Leonard 'Boo' Stephens, 67, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009, at Hubbard Hospice House, surrounded by family, after a three year battle with cancer.
'Boo' was born July 29, 1941, in Charleston. He was preceded in death by parents, Stacy and Eva Stephens, and brothers, Donald and Larry "Lum" Stephens.
He was retired from WV Department of Highways after 30 years of service. He was a kind and caring person always willing to do for others and one who never knew a stranger. He loved life, God, his family and friends, and especially children and animals. He was an avid stamp and coin collector; he enjoyed playing poker with the boys and spending time with his brother Jerry.
Mr. Stephens is survived by his wife, Nancy Stephens of Charleston; 4 children, Scott Worley and wife Lisa OF Summersville, Robin Turley and companion Reza Shaker of Charleston, Tamra Stephens Ford and companion Brian Jones of Dunbar, Mark Leonard Stephens of Charleston; 7 grandchildren, David 'Mike' Turley of Charleston, Alex and Samantha Worley of Summersville, Dwight Ford and Bradley Jones of Dunbar, Zachary and Hailey Stephens of Charleston. He is also survived by 8 brothers and sisters, Jerry Stephens of Charleston, Deloris Annie Edwards of Charleston, Danny Stephens of Cleveland, OH, Carol Crawford of Kenna, Marie Vickers of Charleston, Billie Stephens of Charleston, Becky Hudson of Charleston, Jimmy Stephens of Charleston; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to the staff of Hubbard Hospice House and to all of the nurses and doctors who were affiliated in Leonard's care. A special thank you to Pete Thompson, Chaplain at Hubbard House for his support in this time of need.

Leonard had requested his body be gifted to Marshall University Medical School for use in cancer research. Leonard was a kind and giving person who will be greatly missed by all whose life he had touched.
A gathering of memorial remembrance will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
