Obituary

Leslie E. Carter, 86, of Poca went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 9, 2011, at Dunbar Care & Rehabilitation Center.

He retired from Union Carbide Institute and moved to the Carolinas and then on to Florida where he sold Real Estate and drove a school bus before giving up to retire.

He moved back to Poca and attended Cornerstone Church of God in Nitro and Dunbar Mountain Mission where he was known as the "Candy Man".

Preceding him in death is his parents, John Carter & Elsie Moore Carter McNemar; his stepfather, Russel McNemar; his first wife, Lilly Bell Carter and second wife, Donna Lou Carter; daughter, Ramona Gail Carter; son, Paul Edward Carter and brother, Harold Moore.

He is survived by his children, Nadine Asbury of Columbus Ohio, John Carter (Patty) of Charleston, Sue Pierce (Jim) of Columbus Ohio, Charles Carter (Mona) of Decatur Illinois, and Velma Sisk of Poca.

He had 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter due this month.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Christopher Bowman and the staff at Dunbar Care and Rehabilitation Center for the exceptional care and kindness they gave.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 11, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor Jim Phillips officiating. Entombment will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Cross Lanes.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
