Lester McClure Hawes, 95, of Dunbar, WV passed away December 20, 2025.
He was born on May 11, 1930, in Charleston, WV and moved to St. Albans, WV at a very young age.
Lester was the son of the late Charles Huling Hawes and Alma Mae Jarrett Hawes.
A St Albans High School graduate class of '48, Lester was an employee of the St. Albans Post Office, then as a millwright with almost 36 years of service at Union Carbide/Rhone Poulenc. He was a member of Dunbar United Methodist Church and was a US Navy Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Los Angeles.
In addition to his parents, Lester was also preceded in death by his sisters, June Fitch and Dorothy Burgess, brother, Bill Hawes, and twin brother, Chester Hawes.
Lester is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Phyllis Kiser Hawes; daughters, Cathy Tucker (Kenny) of Dunbar, Jean Ann Fierbaugh (Steve) of Kansas City, MO ; son, Steve Hawes of Maple Grove, MN; along with grandsons, Joshua Fierbaugh and Caleb Fierbaugh of Kansas City, MO.
Per his request there will be no public services.
Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
