Lester Franklin Shropshire, 93, of Dunbar, lifelong resident of Kanawha Valley, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2007 in Hubbard Hospice House.
Lester was retired from Union Carbide where he was a machinist by trade. He was retired president of Cyclops Industries. He was a Christian by faith and a former member of First United Methodist Church of South Charleston. He was a mason for 50 plus years, and was a member of Washington Lodge #58, St. Albans, where he served as Past Master. In his younger years, he was an avid camper and former player in Kanawha Valley Baseball League and remained a baseball fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Cecile Clair Cunningham Shropshire; brother, Harry Shropshire; wife, Frances Elizabeth Alexander Shropshire.
Mr. Shropshire is survived by his children, Sue Barker, and husband, Gene of Sandyville, Thomas Shropshire, and wife, Jamie, of Lewiston, ID, Patricia Morris, and husband, Skip, of Maitland, FL, Beverly Shropshire of Jacksonville, FL, Laura Smith, and husband, John, of Bancroft, William Shropshire, and wife, Peggy, of Nitro; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 20, at Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 19, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
