Obituary

Lillian Giles Hunter, passed away quietly at home surrounded by family and loved ones on March 30, 2014.

She was born on April 1, 1921 to the late Thomas Giles and Maddie Hairston Giles in Martinsville, Virginia.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Sullivan Hunter; sons, Ozell and Orange Dyess; step-father, James Watkins; 3 brothers; 6 sisters; 4 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

She was educated in the public schools of Martinsville, Virginia and Fayette County. She did domestic work and later attended Garnet School receiving her Chef license.

She leaves to cherish her memories four daughters; Estella Nappier, Henrietta Dyess, Judith Penn and Sequaya Hunter; foster daughter, Jodi Clark; brother, Dr. Bishop Sherman S. Watkins; 40 grandchildren; 105 great grandchildren; 74 great-great grandchildren; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends; and a special sister and friend, Marion Brown.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the HospiceCare staff and everyone that helped during this difficult journey.

Services will be at 11 am on Saturday, April 5 at All Nations Revival Center, Institute with Dr. Bishop Sherman S. Watkins officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
