Obituary

Linda Gay Trent Kirk Brown, 73, of Stone Mountain, GA went home on Tuesday, November 2, 2010.

She was born on February 3, 1937 in Charleston, WV to the late Thomas Fred and Georgia Beatrice Trent. She was a 1955 graduate of Dunbar High School where she excelled in her studies and her love of singing. She was married to Leonard David Kirk, Sr. soon after graduation and had two children, Larry and Patti. After a divorce, Linda later married James William Brown (now deceased) and was the Step Mother to Margi, Rich, and Mike.

Linda worked as a bank teller, finance administrator and a pharmacy technician. Linda was also a lifelong member of Beta Sigma Phi where she dedicated many hours performing charity work and giving back to the community. In her spare time she loved to read and travel.

Linda is survived by her children, Larry and wife Lisa Kirk, Patti Kirk and partner Mary Elmore; step children, Margi and husband David Mountcastle, Rich and wife Debbie Brown, Mike and wife Deeda Brown; grandchildren, Tripp Kirk and Brittany Kirk; sister, Phyllis Wood; brother, Jeff and wife Kay Trent; niece, Dianna Knight and husband Wayne and their children, Jessica and Clayton; nephew, Doug Sharp and wife Tammy and their children, Justin and Josh; niece, Angie and husband Jamie Lewis and their children, Olivia and Whitney; nephew, Jeffrey and his son, Thomas Jeffery Trent; niece, Cynthia and husband James Lucas and their children, Kayla, Brandon and Jorden; and many other family and friends.

A visitation and service was held at Bill Head Funeral Home in Tucker, GA.

Linda will then make one last trip to West Virginia for her burial. The graveside service will be held at Grandview Memorial Park in Dunbar on Thursday, November 11 starting at noon. Pallbearers will be Larry Kirk, Tripp Kirk, Doug Sharp, Justin Sharp, Josh Sharp, Mike Brown, and honorary Jeff Trent.
Family and friends are welcome to join the family after the service at Jeff's house located at 206 Sun Valley Drive in St. Albans, WV.

Linda's epitaph is she was a loving wife and mother and she brought laughter to all who needed it.
