Linda Renee Mays

Linda Renee Mays, born on August 9, 1953, of Cross Lanes, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026.

Linda was born to the late Betty Bailey Mays and the late John Elbert Mays. She grew up in Cross Lanes and remained there throughout her life, where she became known for her kind heart, generous spirit, and unwavering love for her family, church and community.

She is survived by her brother, John Mays (Kathy); her nieces, Ashley Mays and Tiffany Ribarits; her beloved great-nieces, Amber Wawrzyniak and Baylee Kaufman; and her great nephew, Johnny Wawrzyniak.

Linda was truly an angel amongst us throughout her life. She loved her family deeply and unconditionally and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone and everyone in need. She was devoted and passionately involved in the Church of Christ in Dunbar. She became great friends with all those who walked in the door. When Linda was ill and in the presence of caregivers and hospital staff, she would refer to them as her angels. Thanks for the kindness and gentle care that was shown to her and her loved ones at Thomas Memorial Hospital. Her selflessness and gentle nature touched countless lives, and her memory will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we shall find comfort in knowing Linda is now home, safe and at peace in Heaven with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her love will remain in our hearts forever, and her legacy of kindness will never be forgotten.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
