Lloyd C. Rutledge, 68, of Dunbar, passed away November 6, 2006, at his home after an extended illness and is at peace with our heavenly Father.
He was born June 14, 1938 at the old Millrose place in Glascow, WV. Lloyd was a graduate of Dupont High School in 1956 and grew up in Belle. He married the love of his life and began working for DuPont in Belle before moving to Dunbar. He worked for 25 years as a meat salesman and a security supervisor at CAMC General Hospital.
Lloyd was a member of the Elks Lodge #202 and of First Church United Methodist in Dunbar. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and loved everyone. He loved to vacation at the beach, go visit his favorite aunt Becky Hickman in Shippensburg, Pa. and loved his football games. He loved to work around the home and do his pictures. He loved very much having all of his family around.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, David L. and Ella B. Higginbotham Rutledge.
Mr. Rutledge is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Sally Richardson Rutledge and his beloved children, daughters, Debra L. Rutledge of Charleston, Teresa "Terri" Smith and her husband, Rick of Dunbar, Becky Ellen Turley and her husband, Barry of Charleston and son, Joshua L. Rutledge of Winchester, Va; brother, Harlow H. Rutledge of Columbus, OH and sister, Helena S. Naylor of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Andrew Rutledge, Jeremy Smith, Matthew Smith, Brittany Smith, Joey Quagliotti Turley and Barry E. Turley, II, many nieces and nephews and most of all his beloved doggie Bridgette.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 9, at First Church United Methodist, Dunbar, with the Rev. Dr. Okey B. Harless officiating. Burial will follow in Richardson Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 8, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
