Lois L. Droddy, 75, of Dunbar, departed this life unexpectedly March 7, 2006 secondary to complications during coronary bypass surgery at CAMC Memorial Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Clara and Herman Hunt. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Herbert "Al" Droddy; brother, Robert Hunt; sisters, Mildred White and Jackie Maxwell.

Lois was a proud graduate of Elkview High School, Class of 1948, and attended Charleston School of Commerce. She retired from Union Carbide after 25 years of service as an administrative secretary. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Dunbar and previously an active member of the Eastern Star.

Always ready with a joke or funny poem, Lois had a reputation for loving to laugh and wanted to make those around her laugh too. She loved trying new things, and especially enjoyed sampling new (and old) eateries with close friends. She was also likely to be seen livening up events for Elkview alumni or retired "Carbiders". Lois was a long time shopper and had found shopping for those who call her "Mama Lois" extra fun. She will be sadly missed by family, friends, and her canine companion, Sammy.

Lois is survived by her son, Joe Droddy of Fort Collins, CO; sister, Christine Brittain and husband, Bob of Arizona; nieces, Betty Jones and husband Jay, Deloris Shamblin and husband Dennis, all of Clendenin; "grandchildren", Justin, Grace, and Bethany Cole of Hurricane as well as many great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, March 13 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Thomas E. Stevens, Jr. officiating.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
