Lois White
Light Koontz Nypl
May 5, 1931 – March 8, 2025
Lois White Light Koontz Nypl, age 93, of Dunbar, went to Heaven to celebrate with her friends and loved ones on March 8, 2025.
She was born on May 4, 1931, to the late James Lewis White and Ona Elizabeth Gandee White.
Lois never met a stranger—she had a gift of conversation and loved getting to know people. After graduating Clendenin High School, her warmth and charisma made her a natural in sales, and in March of 1957, she broke barriers as one the first female car salespeople in the area when she began working for Roger Dean Chevrolet. She thrived in the role, embracing the challenge and winning over customers and earning the respect of her male colleagues. She loved her work, and her passion for connecting with people shined through in everything she did.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husbands, Jim Light, Jim Koontz, and Miloslav Nypl; her and son-in-law, Deo Lawrentz. Lois was one of eight siblings, and she was preceded in death by six of them. She is reunited in Heaven with her five sisters, Frankie Susan White Shamblin, Georgia Marie White, Willa Mae White Bradley, Betty Rae White Boggs, and Dianna Kay White Maxwell, and her brother, James Edward White. She cherished her family deeply and created a life filled with love, laughter, and meaningful connections.
She will be remembered for her heart, determination, and ability to make anyone feel like an old friend.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Douglas Light (Carol) and Jimmie Koontz (Ardeth); daughters, Robin Light Estep (Jerry), Judith Koontz Harris (David), Rosalind Koontz Lawrentz; sister, Mary Hill (Tom); grandchildren, Mary Capozza (Vince), Colleen Miller (Mark), Sean Light, Patrick Light, and Jackson Harris; along with her great-grandchildren, Jared Capozza, Ryan Miller, and Landon Miller.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar where family and friends will gather to honor her life. Burial will follow in Koontz Cemetery, Clendenin.
Visitors will be welcomed one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
Donations may be made to Dunbar First Baptist Church Building Fund or Youth Ministry.
