Obituary

Lonnie Cemore Hicks, Jr., 80 of Dunbar peacefully passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025 after a long illness.

He was born on June 1, 1945 in Charleston to the late Lonnie C. Hicks, Sr. and Helen Whittington Hodge.

Lonnie was employed by Garrett Tire as a Tire Technician/Service Manager for many years.  He was a member of the Charleston Mountain Mission Church.  Lonnie loved porch sitting, and he never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia Hicks; his children, Tammy Asbury (Ray) of Ingleside, TX, Ricky Hicks of Dunbar, and Robert Hicks (Leann) of Dunbar; his six grandchildren; his seven great-grandchildren; and his sister, Erana Walker (Robert) of St. Albans.

The family would like to extend a 'special thank you' to Dr. John Ponugupti, MD and the staff at WV Cancer Center for their exceptional and loving care.  Also, a 'special thank you' to Brittany with HospiceCare.

A funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Charleston Mountain Mission Church, 1600 7th Avenue, Charleston, WV 25387, with Pastor Kenny Petry officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories.

Family will welcome visitors from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2025 at the church.
