Loretta J. Gillespie, 85, of Nitro went to be with the Lord on November 2, 2023 after a short illness.

Loretta was born in Point Pleasant, WV to the late James and Donna Lucas.

She was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School.  Loretta enjoyed spending time with family, sewing, cooking, and gardening.  Her flowers were her favorite.  She was a long time member of Nitro Church of Christ.  Many people knew her for being a Nanny for their children.  But her pride and joy were her grandchildren, her great-grandson, Braxton, and her dog, Zoey.

In addition to her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Gillespie; siblings, Mary Barnett, Phyllis Clendenin, Reba Jo Maynard, Alice Daugherty, Helen Lucas, Ed Lucas, Harry Lucas, and Anna Mae Donohue.

Loretta is survived by her children, Matt Gillespie and Tammy Pauley (Eddie); sister, Jackie Whittington; grandchildren, Amber Gillespie, Matthew Gillespie, Alicia Pauley, Heather Herndon (Brian), Keysha Pearson (Zach), and Jasmine Gillespie; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Coda, Abel, Addy, Wren, and Braxton.

A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 6 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Minister Andy Shamblin officiating.  Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.

Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
