Louis Henry Parsons, 86 years old, has begun the rest of his life in heaven on March 26, 2016. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Louis served in the Korean War as a Radio Dispatcher. He was a member of the VFW of South Charleston. He also helped with the building of the Korean War Memorial in South Charleston. Louis retired from Chessie System C&O Railroad after 40 plus years.
When asked what his greatest accomplishment in life was, his answer was my wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandson. He was so proud of them all.
Louis leaves behind his loving wife of almost 60 years, Arbutus May Smith Parsons; daughters, Beverly Lynn McMains (Edward), Regina Gail Brown (John); sons, Richard Louis Parsons (Kelly), Brian Keith Parsons (Amy); Ammie Stewart (Brian), Dalton, Dillon, Devin, Wyatt and Seth; great-grandson, Cameron Stewart.
Louis had a final wish, to complete his journey on earth at home. This was possible thanks to his grandson, Brian Stewart, who was especially critical in the care of Louis and to HospiceCare and the care of his family. We also want to express our appreciation to the staff at Thomas Memorial Hospital 3P. You were all so caring, your kindness won't be forgotten.
Services will be held at noon on Tuesday, March 29, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with the Reverends Michael and Timothy Graley officiating. Burial will follow in Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery with Military Rites.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a Hospice Care of your choice.
