Louise Catherine Arbaugh Applegate, 89, of West Dunbar, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2015 at CAMC General Hospital.
She was born on July 16, 1925 to the late W.F. Arbaugh and Maybelle Martin Arbaugh of Dunbar. She graduated from Dunbar High School, Class of 1945, and graduated from Charleston School of Nursing.
She was a former employee of Staats Hospital; Bosie Register, for private duty nurses; and a nurse at Capital City Nursing Home, from which she retired.
Louise was a very dedicated nurse and loved to care for all her patients. She was a member of Landmark Baptist Church, 6911 MacCorkle Ave., St. Albans.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Douglas F. Arbaugh and sister-in-law, Dorothy Arbaugh of St. Albans; sister-in-law, Lorraine Arbaugh of Claremont, VA; daughters, Carol S. Applegate Strobel of Dunbar and Nancy C. Applegate Clark of South Charleston; two grandsons, Chester "Bud" Strobel and Richard Allen Strobel of Dunbar; and son-in-law, Paul H. (Punk) Smith.
Louise is survived by her brother, Robert L. Arbaugh of Claremont, VA; daughter, Brenda J. Applegate Smith-Fields and husband, Gene of St. Albans; son-in-law, Carl E. Clark and Jackie of South Charleston; eight grandchildren, Consuelo S. (Connie) Beane of Dunbar, Ashley Strobel Cleveland and husband, Tim of Dunbar, Paul (Chris) Smith of Ripley, Eric D. Smith and wife, Christa of Fairdale, Wenda Clark Landrum and husband, Cory of Lithia, FL, Holley Clark of Charleston, Shellie Clark Terry and husband, Mark of South Charleston, Chad Clark and wife, Lauren of Ocoee, FL; step-granddaughter, Jennifer Smith and husband, Lee; 17 great-grandchildren, Katline Taylor, Brittany Taylor, Kelsey Taylor, Cody Taylor, Jeramha, Ariana Kyte, Brandon Smith, Westey Johnson, Hannah Landrum, Jordan Landrum, Anthony Terry, Mia Terry, Miles Terry, Eden Clark, Aria Clark, Ryleigh Cleveland, and Sayde Cleveland; step-great-granddaughter, Karlee; nephew, Raymond Arbaugh; nieces, Patricia Withrow, Cynthia J. Eary, Margaret Alfano, Barbara Small and Terry Worth, their husbands and families; and special friend of many years, Betty Harding.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Rev. Larry Conway officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
