Lucille M. Gatewood was called home by her Lord and Savior on December 25, 2012.

At the age of 76, she left behind four adult children and their spouses: Rozanna and James Bailey of Scott Depot; Joretta and Steve Comer of Scott Depot; Donald and Becky Gatewood of Charleston, Carol Gatewood and Scott Stephan of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Lucille also leaves behind the father of her children, Don Gatewood of Hurricane. God also blessed Lucille with eight grandchildren: April Jackson, her spouse Jamie; Kristi Dillon, her spouse Jeremy; Matthew Gatewood; Mark Gatewood, his spouse Amber; Eric Bailey, his spouse Tiffany; Travis Stone, his spouse Brittny; John Gatewood; and, Joshua Stephan. Lucille was also blessed to have had six great-grandchildren: Raygen Jackson; Noah, Jeremiah, and Zeb Dillon; Colson Stone; and, Palmer Bailey.

Lucille was one of twelve children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Golden and Rosa Johnson, as well as siblings, Jessie Johnson, Edsel Johnson, Leo Johnson, Bessie Korecky, and Maize Stewart. She is survived by George Johnson, Elizabeth Scott, Virginia Evans, Theodore Johnson, Patricia Cook and Robert Johnson.

Lucille, known by members of her family as "Mama Lou Lou," was loving and always placed the needs of others before those of her own. Having accepted Christ as her Lord decades before, Lucille had a profound strength of spirit. Although she has gone to her greater reward, she will be sorely missed by all who knew her, but will never, ever, be forgotten.

Friends and family may pay their respects at Keller Funeral Home in Dunbar on Thursday, December 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. Lucille will be interred at Cunningham Memorial Park on Friday, December 28, following a service at Keller Funeral Home at 11 a.m.

Lucille's children and grandchildren extend their gratitude to the Charleston Hubbard Hospice House, for the care and dignity to their mother and grandmother during her final days.
