Obituary

Lula W. Schoonover, 90, a resident of Cross Lanes for over 50 years, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2008.

She was born September 1, 1917 at Clay, the daughter of the late Thomas and the late Edna King West. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, of 61 years, Ralph O. Schoonover; three sisters, two brothers, and two grandchildren.

Prior to retiring from Kanawha County Board of Education she taught at Point Harmony Elementary School in Cross Lanes for 13 years.

Mrs. Schoonover is survived by her daughters, Genny Elliott and her huband, Fred of Cross Lanes and Mary Schoonover Duncan of Statesville, NC; son, John Schoonover of Robertsburg; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by a large, loving, extended family with many, dear nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, January 7, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Mike Harper and the Rev. Billy Lucas officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, January 6, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Dunbar Mountain Mission, 605 Dunbar Avenue, Dunbar, WV 25064, or to, Kanawha Hospice Care, 1143 Dunbar Avenue, Dunbar, WV 25064.
