Mabel Christine Downs' Obituary
Mable Christine "Chris" Downs, 80, died Monday, November 3, 2008, at Thomas Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
She was born June 10, 1928 in Clay County, WV, the daughter of the late Van Hanshaw and Rhoda (Rogers) Hanshaw.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris "Bub" Downs, son, David Leroy Downs, six brothers, Oliver, Kenny, Clyde, Carl, Guy and Junior and four sisters, Olive, Maxine, Cora and Jean.
She is survived by one grandson, Morris Ray Downs and one great granddaughter, Kaylee Downs; two sisters, Sister Imelda Hanshaw of Stella, NY and Amelda Samples of Canton, OH.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 6, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Kent Estep officiating.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the First Church of the Nazarene, 4923 Kentucky Street, South Charleston, WV 25309.
Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
