Macil Marie Reed, 87, of Dunbar, passed away Monday, July 27, 2009, at home after a short illness.
Macil was born October 7, 1921 in Putnam County. She was the daughter of the late Ammon Reed and Dora King Reed Jeffries. Also preceding her in death were her son Michael Lee Garnes, brothers, O'Dell Reed and Robert Samples, sisters, Bethelene Lunsford, Marietta Hartley, Ruby Underwood and Erma Nicholas.
Macil was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Putnam County. After the death of her son, she moved to Dunbar in 1999 where she made many new friends. She was employed by the old Dunbar Flint Glass Co. in the early 1940's. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Macil is survived by her beloved grandson, Michael Lee Garnes, II and his wife, Alejandra of Savannah, Ga. and Morelia, Mexico; great grandson, Shawn Michael Garnes of Morelia, Mexico; daughter-in-law, Johanna Garnes of Sissonville; brother, Leo Reed of Scott Depot; sisters, Elsie Mundy of Dunbar and Reva Nelson of St. Albans. She is also survived by her special friend, Sue Steiner of Dunbar.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 30, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Dr. Okey B. Harless officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 29, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
