April 12, 1971 – October 24, 2021
Madalyn Denise Smith, 50, of South Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 24, 2021.
She worked as a customer service advocate for CareFirst, but her true calling was nursing. Madalyn was a nurse for 26 years. She treated each patient as if they were family.
Madalyn loved her family with all of her heart. She loved going on camping and boating trips. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and gaming. Every single activity and hobby included her family. She never knew a stranger, and welcomed everyone with open arms and love. Madalyn shared the word of God with everyone she met . She was a true treasure to everyone in her life and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Imogene Hartwell.
Madalyn is survived by her loving husband, Phillip Smith of South Charleston; daughters, Chrysa Smith and Lilian Smith both of South Charleston; father, Thurman Hartwell of South Charleston; brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Sheri Hartwell of Charleston; and nephews, Samuel Hartwell of Teays Valley and Maximilian Hartwell of Charleston.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 31, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Pastor Lee Swor officiating. Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 1, in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.
Friends may visit two hours prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
