Woods
July 29, 1982 – December 19, 2016
Malcolm Eugene Woods, 34, of Charleston, was called home on December 19, 2016.
He was born on July 29, 1982 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Eugene Edward Woods and Laverne Alene Banks. Raised in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area, Malcolm became a curious, adventurous, and independent child. He was a sport enthusiast, patron of the arts and loved all forms of technology. His thirst for life showed through his travels, with trips to Germany, Mexico and Singapore. Break dancing was his true passion performing under the name B-Boy Krash.
While attending West Virginia State University in Institute, WV, he met his future wife, Erica Smith. Malcolm returned to New York and the two lost touch. Years later, the two reconnected and began their long distance relationship. In 2010, He decided to move to West Virginia permanently to be with Erica. He told his mom, "I'm going to live in Erica's world, marry her, and have some babies."
Malcolm and Erica married in September 2014 and welcomed their daughter Amaya in August 2015. He was a true family man. He referred to Erica as his "queen" and Amaya as his "princess" and he ensured they knew it every moment of every day. With an infectious smile, wonderful sense of humor, and love for life, Malcolm became an instant friend to anyone he met, and was a devoted husband, father, beloved son and trusted friend.
