Margaret F. "Peggy" Garten, 77, wife of William H. "Bill" Garten, Jr., of South Charleston peacefully passed away at Hubbard Hospice House on September 13, 2009 following an extended illness.

Peggy was born on January 3, 1932, in Logan. She attended Charleston Catholic High School, Charleston, and graduated from St. Aloysius Academy, New Lexington, Ohio. Prior to retirement, Peggy was employed as a secretary-medical transcriptionist in the Vascular Lab at CAMC, Memorial Division. After retirement, she continued her medical transcription work through a successful home business.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard L. and Thelma R. Lang, sisters, Anna Lee Lang and Rose Mary McCormick, brother, Leo B. Lang; and daughter, Rebecca A. "Peachy" Garten.

In addition to her husband, Bill, Peggy is survived by their children, Christopher A. Garten and wife Vickie of Marietta, Ohio; Mary C. Garten of Baltimore, MD; Carol J. Long of South Charleston; and Patricia K. Bowles and husband Randy of Southbury, CT; grandchildren, Philip S. Bowles of Southbury, CT and Laura E. Bowles of New Haven, CT.

A memorial mass for Peggy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2009, at Blessed Sacrament Church in South Charleston.

Family and friends will gather at Blessed Sacrament Church beginning at 10 a.m., on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Peggy's memory be made to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. West, Charleston, WV 25312-2536 or to Blessed Sacrament Parish, 305 E Street, South Charleston, WV 25303.
