Margaret "Peggy" Mills, 95, formerly of South Charleston, passed away February 3, 2014 at Good Living Assisted Living in Malden.

A registered nurse, she graduated from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Lafayette, Indiana and was retired from Thomas Memorial Hospital. She was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Army Air Corps as a flight nurse in the Pacific. She was a member of the former Darlington United Methodist Church.

Peggy was born in Yazoo City, Mississippi to Charles and Opal Broadaway. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James D. Mills, brother, Mack Broadaway and sister, Amy Campbell. She is survived by daughters, Margaret Lovejoy (Keith) of Sissonville and Amy Sanders (Joe) of Brooksville, FL, grandsons, Gregory Moss (Laurie) of Shepherdstown, Michael and Kyle Sanders of Spring Hill, FL, great grandchildren, Ivy and Luke Moss and several nieces and nephews.

Nursing was a true calling for Peggy. She spent her life caring for patients, family, friends and neighbors. She was known as the "angel of the neighborhood" in her South Charleston community. She served as a volunteer at Thomas Memorial Hospital after retirement until her health failed.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Good Living Assisted Living who provided a warm and loving home for Mom the past two years; Hospice staff Jennifer, Carla and Diane who are remarkable nurses and friends, friend and former caregiver, Loretta Pettway.

Funeral services and burial will be private.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

The family suggests donations be made in Peggy's memory to Kanawha Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Boulevard, W., Charleston, WV 25387.
