Obituary

Marie Bibbee Boswell, 88, of Dunbar, left this life peacefully at home on March 31st to join her Lord and Savior, her late husband Samuel W. Boswell, and a host of family and friends.

Marie was born in 1919, the youngest of five children to John M. and Frances Kessel Bibbee. She was raised on her parents' farm in Jackson County, attended the local schools in Ripley, and graduated in 1937 from Ripley High School. Remaining a farmer's daughter and a country girl at heart, she left the country after high school to attend Huntington Beauty College where she earned a beautician's license and went on to practice at the Diamond Department Store in Charleston. She changed careers in the early 1940's and enrolled in Capitol City Business College, later becoming a bookkeeper at Elk Refinery.

On January 27th, 1950, Marie married Sam, her high school sweetheart, the love of her life, and a country boy himself. She left the working world in 1955 to embrace the most important roles of her life - - a full-time wife and mother. She gave her all as both. Marie was also an extra-ordinary daughter, sister, friend, neighbor and provided a home-away-from-home for neighborhood children. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, canning, cooking, sewing and wearing whatever hat was necessary to support those she loved. Marie exemplified throughout her life that "you can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl", returning frequently to the farm to work the land and be in the countryside that she so dearly loved.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Gerald, Ray, Guy and Mabel Bibbee.

Marie is survived by: daughters, Terry Boswell of Dunbar and Sandy Boswell of South Charleston; her four-legged, faithful companion - - Sierra "Skeeter" who brought her great joy; her good friend, caregiver and angel on earth, Ruby Burdette; her daughter at heart, Camilla "Jeannie" Hively; several nieces and nephews.

A heartfelt thank you to: Dr. John Merrifield, who provided compassion and excellent medical care over the last several years; Ruby, whose loving care and friendship greatly enriched the last two years of Marie's life; Tiffany Bragg, RN at Thomas Memorial Hospital who treated Marie as her own family; Dr. Christopher Bowman and Ruby who were instrumental in getting Marie home to spend her final days where she wanted to be; Kanawha HospiceCare for the mission they so completely fulfill; and finally to family and friends for the overwhelming love and support.

Service will be Thursday, April 5th, 2007, 1 p.m. at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Mark A. Jarrell officiating. Entombment will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 4th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Keller Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to: Kanawha HospiceCare,
