Marie Jo McGhee, 90, of Dunbar, went to be with the Lord on June 9, 2025 surrounded by loved ones.

She was born on March 16, 1935 in Hinton, WV to the late Nathaniel and Dassel P. Wilson.

Marie Jo was a graduate of Hinton High School, and grew up with a love for God, family, music, gardening, and cooking.  She was a dedicated devout Christian and member of Dunbar First Baptist Church, homemaker, piano student, a wonderful mother, and light to many.  Marie Jo was known for her inviting spirit, beautiful roses, and love of blue and white china.  She lived to serve God, and to give her family a warm, loving, wonderful home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Richard O. McGhee II.

Marie Jo is survived by her husband of 71 years, Richard O. McGhee of Dunbar; her grandchildren, Kristina Dodd (Robert Wiley), Jeremy McGhee, Nicholas McGhee (Deanna); great-grandchildren, Devyn Dodd (Grace Schebek), Leo McGhee, Owen McGhee, and Chloe McGhee.

The family would like to recognize her many friends, church members, neighbors, caretakers, and all who brought light to her world.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Dunbar First Baptist Church with Reverend Davontae Edwards and Pastor David Keeney officiating.

Family will welcome visitors one hour prior to the service at the church.
