Marie Finerty Stidd, 91, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014.
She was born on August 6, 1922 in Wilmington, Delaware to Martin and Mary Finerty.
Marie was a member of Christ the King Church and was a resident of Dunbar for 62 years.
Marie was an elementary school teacher in New York State and Ohio for more than 15 years. Upon moving to Dunbar in 1952, she opened the first parish kindergarten and operated it until 1960. For over three decades she was active with the church youth by acting as a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine teacher and started the first children's choir in the church.
She was president of the Dunbar Senior Citizens for five years and volunteered for more than 30 years at the Myers Avenue Apartments in Dunbar.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Mary Finerty of Dunbar, formerly of Wilmington, Delaware; her husband, Foster Stidd; and granddaughter, Jennifer Brown.
She is survived by two daughters, LouAnn Brown and husband, Walter (Butch), of Dunbar; and Joan Good and husband, Frank, of Kernersville, N.C.; four grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph Finerty and wife, Martha, of Charleston; sister, Theresa Finerty Haid of Dunbar; nephew, Patrick Finerty of Los Angeles, California; niece, Karen Finerty Truver and husband, Larry; great nephew, Daniel Joseph Truver all of Charleston, SC.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at Christ the King Church, Dunbar with Father Joseph Tuscan OFM CAP officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
Friends may call between 7 and 9 p.m. on Friday, June 6, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. The Rosary will be said at 8:45 p.m.
