Mark Henry
Barker
September 28, 1957 – January 16, 2026
Mark Henry Barker of Dunbar went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 16, 2026 following a short illness.
Mark was born September 28, 1957 to Vernon Barker and Nina Henry Barker Robinson in Sharples, WV. He was a 1976 graduate of Dunbar High School. He was a long-time employee of United Dairy who devoted 35 years working in various capacities, ending his career as General Sales Manger. Mark served as president of CHAMR (Charleston Hunting Association of Manufacturer's Representatives) for multiple years. During his tenure as president, Mark played a key role in the growth and success of the annual CHAMR golf tournament which raised funds to benefit multiple charitable organizations throughout the region.
Mark was a Christian and a member of Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle where he served as a board member and head usher. Mark enjoyed singing and playing guitar with the Brothers of Faith gospel bluegrass band. He loved the Lord and his family with every fiber of his being. During his sickness, his faith in the Lord never wavered and he utilized every opportunity to witness to everyone he saw about the goodness of God.
To know Mark was to love him. He never met a stranger and had a contagious belly laugh that could bring joy to any room. Two things he took pride in were his golf swing and the stripes of his pristine lawn which was always the envy of the neighborhoods he lived in. A highlight of his week was on Sunday when he would go to church and follow up with a big family dinner.
Mark is survived by the love of his life, Kimberly; as well as their daughters, Jennifer Clark (Chris), Brittany Barker, Lyndsey Barker, Katie Jones (Andrew), and Jamie VanBibber (Corey); sisters, Cathy Banks (Terry) and Nancee Barnette (Tim); grandchildren, Avery Jones, Mason Jones and Wyatt VanBibber were his pride and joy. Mark is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and an abundance if friends whom he adored.
In addition, our family is deeply grateful to Dr. Jonathan Lilly for the compassionate care and genuine friendship he shared with Mark.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 20 at Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle with Rev. Tom Price and Cory Emswiler officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memorial Gardens, Cross Lanes.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, January 19 at Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle, Dunbar; as well as one hour prior to the service Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle Building Fund.
Arrangements are in care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
