Obituary

Marlin Guy "Bud" Barnett, 72, passed away Monday, October 16, 2017 from complications after surgery.

He was born in 1945 and lived in Dunbar. Bud was a member of the Dunbar High School class of 1963. He retired in 2003 as a pipeline mechanic for Union Carbide with 30 years of service. Bud served in the Army National Guard, Troop B, 150 th Armor Unit in the mid-1960's.

He loved going to his Jackson Co. farm and driving his big red tractor. Bud was a Christian and was baptized in the Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Genevieve Casto Barnett; sister, Sharon Sue Gaynor; and twin sister, Caroline Yvonne Landis.

Bud is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Sue Gantz Barnett; loving son, Kevin Gantz Barnett and girlfriend, Leigh Ann; sister, Pat Spradling (Larry); brother, Clayton Barnett; brother-in –law, Coy Gaynor; nieces and nephews, Greg Gaynor (Tawnya); Cheryl Gaynor; Scott Spradling (Angie), Jon Spradling(Sharon) and Teresa Marks; and special "pal", his cat, Bootsie.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Jonathan Lilly at Dunbar Medical Associates for his care and compassion, Nurse Twilla, and the nurses at Thomas Memorial Hospital ICU for their wonderful care.

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 20, at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
