Obituary

On Friday, February 28, 2025, our beloved Marsha Elaine Berry, age 71, was called home to be with our Lord.

Marsha was born on August 15, 1953, in Charleston, WV, the daughter of James Woodson and Margaret Berry.

She grew up in the Triangle District of Charleston and Washington Manor.  Marsha attended Fruth Elementary, John Adams Junior High before graduating from Charleston High School.  After high school, Marsha obtained her medical assistant certification at the Philadelphia Job Corps Center.  She returned to Charleston and worked for several years at Charleston General Hospital.  In 1993, Marsha became a school crossing guard for the City of Charleston.  During her time as a crossing guard, she was assigned to Kanawha City Elementary and Horace Mann Middle School.  She remained at that job for 26 years until retiring in 2019.

Marsha loved the Lord and would share her faith with anyone that she met.  Her kind, outgoing personality meant that she never met a stranger.  She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend.  Marsha's greatest pleasure in life was spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Eunice Berry; father, James Woodson; and stepfather, Earl Walker.

Left to cherish Marsha's memory are her mother, Margaret Berry of Charleston; daughters, Terreka Berry (Trey) of Charleston, WV, Keyon Berry Sampson (Shelton) of San Antonio, TX, and Tashawna Berry Hankins (John) of Lexington, NC; grandchildren, Tazhauna Berry (Lee), Karee Berry (Jasmin), Anazhia Berry Watson (Tab), Treyauna Hardman, Curtis Hardman, Casey Carpin (Nick), Kaden Berry, John Hankins, and Quentin Sampson; and great-grandchildren, Zah'Treynai Berry, Leauanna London, Le'yaunni London, Jaden Chapman, Jalen Chapman, Cameron Hankins-Carpin, Kayson, Berry, and Benjamin Berry.

Celebrating and cherishing her legacy are her sister, Peggy Harris (Glenn) of Charleston, WV; brother, John Berry (Sabrina) of Powder Springs, GA; niece, Janae Grier; nephews, Cameron Grier and Josh Myers of Charlotte, NC; along with a host of extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025, at King of Glory International Ministries, Charleston with Apostle Tina M. Beatty officiating.  Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Family will welcome visitors one hour prior to the service at the church.
