Mary Louise Bell (Rowland), 101, passed away Monday, December 7, 2018 at Charleston Area Medical Center.

Born in Fincastle, Virginia (Botetourt Co.) on December 28, 1916, she was the second youngest child of the late Henry Rowland and Stella Rowland (Harvey).

Mary spent most of her years in Charleston where she eventually retired from the State ABC Commission after completing over 20 years. She then went on to became a Child Care Assistant where she provided the opportunity for families to work. Mary was an advocate for her church where she obtained the title as Mother of the Church of God, M.P.G. of Truth. Mary was a strong independent thinker who would always speak her mind. She Was!

She was also preceded in death by her sons, Jimmy Lewis, Russell Bell Jr., Herbert Harris, and Robert Bell; daughter, Linda Harris; grandkids, Joe Jordan Jr, and Angelo Jordan; brothers, John Rowland, Henry Rowland Jr., and Theodore Rowland; and sister, Gladys Rowland.

Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory, sister, Alice Rowland of Tuscumbia AL; daughters, Carolyn (Joe) Jordan of San Diego CA., Beverly Minter, and Rita (Curtis) Brock of Charleston; sons, Gary (Donna) Harris of Bedford OH, Jesse (Carolyn) Harris III of Charleston, and LTC Larry (Anita) Harris (US Army, Retired) of Rocky Mount NC.

She is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

A Going Home service will be held at 1p.m. on Saturday, December 15 at the Abundant Life Ministries, 1534 Washington Street E., Charleston, WV 25311. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
