Come celebrate the passing of Mary Jane Pauley Cline of Dunbar, who went home to be with the Lord on July 6, 2014 after a brief battle with stomach cancer.
She was born on August 22, 1954 to the late Elvin and Lucille (King) Pauley of Marmet.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her sister Elva Pauley Jordan.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Lester Cline; her brother, Albert "Bud" Pauley; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
After graduation from East Bank High School, Mary moved to Nashville, Tenn. to attend Trevecca Nazarene College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Welfare. She moved back to West Virginia and on June 4, 1977 married Lester Cline. Mary then began a fulfilling life of caring for children. She spent seven years taking care of Ryan and Jamie Snyder, children of David and Janice Snyder, then six years helping David and Janice Smith with their daughter Mary Ellen. After working at a nursing home in Glasgow, Mary became a full-time housewife. But that did not mean she stopped working! She was active as a Sunday School teacher, Caravan (Christian scouting program) leader, as well as in other ministries in her church. Although she was unable to go, Mary was always supportive of Lester's travels to different countries when he went on Work and Witness trips. In other areas of the home, Mary was instrumental in helping Lester raise a garden and subsequent canning.
Mary was saved and sanctified at an early age during Vacation Bible School. Throughout the years, she faithfully served the Lord through her financial giving. Even with her limited physical sight, she kept her eyes on Jesus. Mary was a member of the Dunbar Church of the Nazarene and attended the Dunbar Mountain Mission in her last years.
