Mary Ethel
Pauley
January 13, 1928 – February 28, 2018
Mary Ethel (Bailey) Pauley, 90, of St. Albans, went to her heavenly home on February 28, 2017 with her family by her side.
She was born in Gauley Bridge to the late William Edward and Mary Ethel Bailey. A 1946 graduate of Gauley Bridge High School, Mary was active in various clubs, athletics, and the arts.
Mary, also known as Mecky to close family and friends, was a very loving mother and doting grandmother who leaves a legacy full of love, hope, "boogie woogie" piano playing, and southern gospel music. She took great pride in being a homemaker as she truly enjoyed creating a warm, loving home environment, cleaning, cooking, and making her own decorations for any holiday while leaving a trail of glitter behind her.
Mary had a heart-felt passion for Jesus and unquenchable thirst for His word. She genuinely loved anyone with whom she came into contact and was always sharing the gospel through music, books, and lively conversation. She was a member of Grace Baptist Temple where she played the piano for her beloved church family for 29 years before retiring in February 2013.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; her son, Scott; her brothers, Basil, Billy Joe, Donald, Franklin, Howard, and Martin; and her sisters, Bernice, Dolly, Elizabeth, Katherine, Phyllis, and Ruth.
Mary is survived by her three daughters, Trina (Frank) Pauley of Charleston, Lisa Tam of Portsmouth, OH, and Cindy (Curtis) Compton of Glen White; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary's name to Hubbard Hospice House, 1606 Kanawha Blvd W, Charleston, WV 25387 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The family will honor Mary's life and death privately.
Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home of Dunbar.
