Mary Catherine Garten, "Mary Kay", 64, of South Charleston, died on Thursday, July 27, 2017.

Mary Kay was one of a kind. With a gypsy soul and a warrior spirit, she made no apologies for her wild heart. Her perspective rarely followed the conventional path but her insight and wit left a lasting memory with anyone who crossed paths with her. If you were blessed enough to have known her, your world was more beautiful.

She was predeceased by her mother, Margaret F. Garten, and sister, Rebecca A. "Peachy" Garten.

She is survived by her father, William H. Garten, Jr. of South Charleston; brother, Christopher A. Garten of Marietta, Ohio; sister, Carol J. Long of South Charleston, with whom she made her home; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia K. and Randy Bowles of Southbury, CT; nephew, Philip S. Bowles of Southbury, CT; niece, Laura E. Bowles of Fairfield, CT; and, the love of her life, Wayne Dent of Catonsville, MD; as well as many relatives and friends.

With honor and respect for her wishes, there will be no service of visitation.
