Obituary

Mary Virginia Glancy, 82, of Prospect KY formerly of South Charleston, WV went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 with her loving husband, and eldest son by her side.

The second of three girls born to the late Albert and Margaret Greenlee, Mary was born on August 1, 1941.

Mary was a1959 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School, and then went on to Marshall University where she graduated in 1963 with a degree in Education.  She was very proud to be an alumna of both Stonewall and Marshall. After graduation, Mary taught at several local Kanawha County high schools.  Above all, Mary was a committed follower of Jesus, and a devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother, and wife.  Among her numerous admirable qualities, Mary had a very special gift of seeing the good in others. She had a passion for baking cookies that her family could not wait to eat, and she never arrived empty handed which brought a smile to everyone's face.  Mary was also very adept at preparing wonderful holiday treats. Her grandchildren loved her so much, and always had fun with her —whether it was going on walks or her questionable decision of teaching them to use wax paper to make the slide go faster.

In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her sister, Patti Bronn and brother, Paul Greenlee.

Left to cherish Mary's memory is her devoted husband of 50 years, Bill Glancy; their children, Scott Evans (Rachel), Chris Evans (Sepi), Kristiin Glancy, and Pat Glancy (Stephanie); grandchildren, Gretchen, Gus, Patience, Alexander, and Aelena; sister, Carol Miller (Don);  along with nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.

Mary's family would like to thank the caring, attentive staff at The Springs at Oldham Reserve for taking such good care of Mary in her final days.

A funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, West Virginia with burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Park.

Family will welcome friends one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
