Mary Ellen Kessinger, 77, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 23, 2022.

She was a 1963 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School. After high school she graduated from Morris Harvey College and worked as a secretary for Kanawha County Schools for 35 years.

On October 7, 1966 she married her husband of 55 years, Kenneth Kessinger. Mary Ellen enjoyed family vacations to the beach, butterflies and feeding the birds. Her pride and joy are her three grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Irene Ray; and her brother, David Ray.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Kenneth Kessinger; daughters, Deborah Clark (Benjamin) of Blacksburg, VA, Mary Beth Hovatter (Gene) of Kasson; grandchildren, Kenneth "KC" Clark, Brendan Clark, Lily Clark; sisters, Barbara Casdorph (Ray), Ritta Casdorph (Michael), Doris Reece (Tom), Hazel Meadows (Demra); and a host of very special nieces and nephews.

Services will be private.
