Mary Margaret "Punkin" Lanham, 77, of Leon, WV, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was a member of the Creston Community Church and retired as a bookkeeper with Old Colony Realty after 30 years of service. But most importantly she was a loving wife and mother who was devoted to her family. Mary loved to be surrounded by her grandchildren, whether at her farm or at various sporting events. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, working in her garden and canning. She also loved the West Virginia Mountaineers!
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar O'Dell Lanham, son, Richard Eugene Lanham, parents, the Rev. Jack and Alma Withrow, sister, Betty Frances Sayre and brother, James Withrow.
She is survived by her son, Dana Lanham and his fiancé, Karen Paxton of Leon; daughters, Brenda Landers and her husband, Harold of Poca and Regina Gay and her husband, Rick of Bancroft; brothers, Vernon and Robert Withrow of Cross Lanes; sisters, Ruth Holstein of Cross Lanes, Lora Belle Casto, Helen Mae Rogers and Lois Baker of Leon; grandchildren, Stephanie Berger, Richie Lanham, Billy Joe Gay, Brandon Gay and Justin Dickerson.
Funeral services will be at 12 noon, Saturday, August 28, at the Dunbar Mountain Mission with the Rev. Pat Pistelli officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
