Mary Kathleen Duncan Lavender, 91, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2008, at the Hubbard Hospice House.

She was formerly employed by the Silver Brand Men's Shop and was a member of the South Charleston First Church of the Nazarene. Mary was also a member of the Dunbar Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, the Charleston White Shrine and was a charter member of the Washington Grange.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, John Harold Duncan and Lonnie Lavender and by her brother, James McDougal.

Surviving are her sons, Melvin L. Duncan and his wife, Helen of Ormond Beach, Fla., Donald E. Duncan and his wife, Patricia of Williamstown, NJ., Vernon R. Duncan of Dexter, MI and Lyle K. Duncan and his wife, Renalda of South Charleston; daughter, Mary Ellen Walker of Dunbar; brother, Robert McDougal of Locke, NY; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at11 a.m., Thursday, October 2, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Greg Hudson and the Rev. Pat Fischer officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
