Mary F. Patton, 97, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26, 2025, at Valley Center in South Charleston, WV.

She was born on May 26, 1928 in Charleston, WV, to the late Hubert and Iva Baker.

A devoted housewife and mother, Mary, also worked as a house parent at her alma mater, The West Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind in Romney, WV until her retirement.  She loved to solve crossword and jigsaw puzzles and was an avid reader. She was a member of the West Virginia Association of the Deaf, Charleston Association of the Deaf, and West Virginia School Deaf Alumni Association, and a devout WVU Mountaineer fan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Robert C. Patton and her brothers, Harold Lee,  Ernest, Ervil and Herman Baker; and her sisters, Helen Carter and Ethel Hill.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Brenda Grinstead (Gary) of Dunbar; son, Dale Patton (Debbie) of Morgantown, WV; five grandchildren, Timothy Grinstead (Jan), J. Scott Grinstead (Sarah), Samantha Slone (Andy), Lindsey Stockdale (Tim), and Katherine Patton (Alex); nine great-grandchildren, Madison, Avery, Jason, Temperance, Annie and Mia Grinstead, Mae and Luke Stockdale, and Lucy Garber Patton; and sister, Audrey Thacker of Alpharetta, GA.

To the staff at Valley Center, thank you for all the time, energy, and effort that you devoted to making sure our mother/grandmother was comfortable and cared for throughout her stay there.  The family also appreciates the care and support that was provided by HospiceCare.
