Mary E. Rowley, 75, of South Charleston, passed away on January 20, 2017, after a brief illness.
She was born November 6, 1941, the daughter of the late Denver and Pauline Goff.
Mary was known as the neighborhood mother/grandmother and treated them all as if they were her own. She never met a stranger and was always willing to help those in need; she frequently went out of her way to ensure that others had what they needed. Her sense of humor, friendly personality and sharp wit drew people to her. She retired from Poca Food Fair after many years of loyal service.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Peter E. Rowley I; and a sister, Betty Workman.
She is survived by a sister, Loretta Cline of Winfield; three children, Marie E. Larch of Charleston, Peter E. Rowley II of South Charleston and Nathan E. Rowley and wife, Valerie Clay, of South Charleston; grandchildren, Amanda D. Hensley of Sissonville, William L. Hensley of St. Albans, Brian Larch of Sissonville, Corey Rowley, Caleb Sargent, Cassidy Sargent, all of Lincoln County, Nicholas A. Rowley, Christopher Pruitt, Ashley Pruitt, Kayla Pruitt, all of Proctorville, OH, and Samantha Clay of Little Hocking, OH; 10 great grand children; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, at Sunset Memorial Park Chapel with the Rev. John Means officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Sunset Memorial Park.
Arrangements are in care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
