Mary Cobb Slater, 86, passed away, Monday, November 10, 2008 at Golden Living-Riverside, St. Albans, after a long illness.
She was born November 19, 1921 and graduated from Charleston High School in 1940.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Slater and her parents Charles and Nellie Cobb.
She was a member of Dunbar United Methodist Church and former member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, South Charleston, and former member of United Methodist Women, South Charleston Church Women United, RSVP, South
Charleston AARP and Thomas Hospital Auxiliary where she worked as a volunteer for 31 years at Thomas Hospital from 1973 to 2004 and volunteered at South Charleston Senior Nutrition Site.
Mary is survived by her sister, Freda Smith of St. Albans, son and daughter-in-law, David A. and Marbeth Slater of South Charleston, grandson
Benjamin Slater of South Charleston.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, November 13, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Frank Shomo officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
