Mary Pricilla Smith, 78, of Dunbar, ascended home to be with the Lord on December 29, 2017.

She was born February 14, 1939, to the late Paul and Sarah Milton.

Mary was born in Jenkins, Kentucky and later her family migrated to West Virginia where she graduated from Dunbar High School in 1958. She worked for the Student Union at WV State College and Aztex Plant in Nitro before finally retiring from Edgewood Country Club in 2005.

She was a fiercely independent woman who strived to provide for her loved ones with no limitations. Her light reached everyone around her leaving a lasting impression of genuine kindness and gentility. Her love for family and friends is her legacy, and will live on for generations.

Mary was preceded in death by her son, Edward Leon Smith, Jr., and her siblings, Bobby Smith and Paul Smith.

Mary is survived by her loving daughter, Anita Kay Crockett; devoted grandchildren, Edward Yancy, Christina Nicole Smith and Victoria Chanai Pryor all of Columbus, Ohio; doting great-granddaughter, Ciara Yancy of Columbus, Ohio; beloved niece, Nikki Milton of Clermont, Florida and nephew, Courtney Milton of Norfolk, Virginia; great-great-grandchildren, Antony Lewis Culpepper, Kareem Lee Pryor, and Anthony Paga Jr., who all were the lights of her life.

The funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Charleston. She will be laid to rest in the family plot at Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston.

Family and friends may gather from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., prior to the service, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Charleston.

Flowers and donations provided for the family can be delivered the day of the funeral service to the church.
