Mary Katherine "Sissy" Frye Smoot

Mary Smoot, also known as Kathy and Sissy, 65, of St. Albans, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Thomas Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.

Born on October 16, 1953 she was raised in Spring Hill, graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in 1971 after her family moved to Big Chimney. She lived the last four years at Golden Living in St. Albans.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim Frye and Pat Edwards; first husband, Mike Guthrie and their son, Dennis Guthrie.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Diane Smoot; granddaughter, Rylee Smoot; grandsons, Van Guthrie and Owen Guthrie, both of Pittsburg, PA; brothers, Rocky and Mike Frye (Terri), sister, Lisa Wiles, all of St. Albans.

Her wish was to be cremated.

A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
