Maxine
Bumgarner
October 28, 1942 – October 17, 2018
Maxine was a native of Granite Falls, North Carolina. She graduated from Lenoir Rhyne College and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. She served with Woman's Missionary Union in North Carolina and Virginia before answering a call to serve the West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists for thirty years as Woman's Missionary Union Director and in Women's Ministries. Maxine was a woman of deep faith and committed her life to missions and making the good news of Jesus known down the street and around the world. She was a devoted member of Cross Lanes Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her mother Bessie Jeanette Bumgarner.
Maxine is survived by her sister Polly Neese of North Carolina. She is also survived by Pastor Seth Polk, her West Virginia son, his wife Emilee, and their children Nathan, Sophia, and Grace.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday October 20, at Cross Lanes Baptist Church, 102 Knollwood Drive, Cross Lanes with Pastor Seth Polk and Nathan Polk officiating. Entombment will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
Friends may visit one hour before the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cross Lanes Baptist Church, 108 Cadle Drive, Cross Lanes, WV 25313 and designated for missions.
Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
