Melinda Jean McGinnis

Melinda Jean McGinnis, 57, of Dunbar, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family, on April 30, 2026.

She was born in Charleston to Robert and Shirley Newhouse.

She was a graduate of Sissonville High School. She worked as a nurse for many years, where her compassion and dedication made a lasting difference in the lives of her patients. She loved the simple pleasures of life—writing, a good cup of coffee, and being creative. Her beautiful smile lit up every room, and her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family, where she was affectionately known as “BooBoo” and “Grammy.”

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Carl and Helen Newhouse, and Delbert and Bertha Moore.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sisters, Sherry (Tim) Miller and Lora (Mark) Hall; her children, Nathan (Annie) Murdock, Veronicka (Brandon) Blosser, and Alexsis (Chase) Bailey; her grandchildren, Ava, Olivia, Weston, Alaric, Christian, Kennedi, David, Peyton, and Everett; her nephews, Austin (Alleigh) Slate and Andrew Sydenstricker; her niece, Haleigh (Isaac) Crow; along with four great-nephews and one great-niece.

A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 3 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar officiated by Pastor Travis Bradley. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
