Melvin Foster Mace, 82, of South Charleston, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Hubbard Hospice House with his loving family by his side.

His heart stopped six days after his devoted wife, Lola , passed away. They shared an unbreakable bond after being married for 57 years. They were each other's best friend.

Melvin was a gentle soul who loved people. He never spoke badly about anyone. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved being in nature, especially at his camp in Pocahontas County. For years he shared his love of the outdoors with his family. He was proud of his children and grandchildren and loved to share stories of his family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lola; parents, George and Velma; and his sister, Phyllis.

Melvin is survived by his sons, Melvin and his wife Marcy and Michael and his wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Cody, Katie, Ryan, Kayla, Heather, Hannah, David and Garrett; five great-grandchildren; brother, Denzil; and sisters, Betty, Mary and Sue.

He will be dearly missed by those who knew him.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Pastor Charles Shelton officiating.

Friends may visit two hours prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
