Melvin Ray McGrew, 65 died December 6, 2008 in an automobile accident on Tyler Mountain Road in Kanawha County.
Born February 6, 1943, he was the son of the late Leonard Clayton and Marie (Hudnall) McGrew. He was preceded in death by brothers Jackie Lee and Doyle Edward McGrew and two nieces Melody Darrencamp and Thelma McGrew.
He is survived by sister Carolyn Marie Reed and her husband David of Wheeling and brothers Charles Buddy McGrew and his wife Phyllis Jean of Ormond Beach, Florida and James Edmond McGrew of Charleston, and his life partner, Renalda Sneed of Galloway, OH; sister-in-law, Phyllis McGrew of Charleston. He is also survived by three nephews Randy Lee McGrew and his wife Jeri Lynn, Doyle Edward McGrew and Aaron Reed and four nieces Tammy Wallace and her husband Gregory, Anita Tanges and her husband David, Carolee Reed and Kristin Pollock and her husband Jason; twelve great nieces Heather Horan and her husband Mitchell, Miranda McGrew, Caitlin Wallace, Courtney Wallace, Ashley Holland and her husband James, Allison Tanges, Amanda Darrencamp, Jessica Darrencamp, Samantha Darrencamp, Diana Marie McGrew, Emily Pollock and Lauren Pollock and four great nephews Kyle Wallace, William Edward McGrew, Nathan Ray McGrew and Dennis McGrew; one great-great niece Addyson Horan and one great-great nephew, James Holland, IV.
Melvin graduated from Sissonville High School in 1961, obtained a BS in Business from West Virginia Institute of Technology and a Master Degree from West Virginia University. He was employed by FMC Corporation, Quaker Coal Company and retired from Allegheny Power Corporation. He was a life long resident of Kanawha County.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 11, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Billy Jackson and the Rev. Greg Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
