Obituary

Michael Hofstetter, 72, of Charleston passed away on October 8, 2012 at CAMC General Hospital.

He was born June 12, 1940, in Welch, WV to the late Michael S. and Irene Gallay Hofstetter.

Mike or "Mickey" grew up mostly in McDowell County and was very proud of this fact. He graduated from Logan High School in 1960. He worked 35 years for WV Department of Transportation, Division of Motor Vehicles. Upon retirement, he was awarded the "Distinguished West Virginian Award" by Governor Cecil Underwood, having retired under the same governor as his father, only several years later.

He was an avid fan of The Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, West Virginia Mountaineers and Elvis Presley.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Ann Wright Hedrick Hofstetter of Charleston; sister-in-law, Carolyn Avers of Fayetteville; niece Dana Reece of Dunbar; great niece Jessica Meador of Dunbar; great-great niece Emma Meador of Dunbar, several cousins and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 11, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with the Rev. Billy Lucas officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.
