Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael O'Dell McCutcheon, 46, on October 13, 2024.

He was born to parents Raymond and Jean McCutcheon on December 18. 1977 in Charleston, WV.

Michael graduated from Sissonville High School in 1996.  He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he served five years as an aircraft mechanic with the HMLA - 169 Squadron.  Though no longer active duty, Michael held the mantra, "Once a Marine, Always a Marine", and patriotically continued to love and serve our country in other ways.  After his military service, Michael attended and graduated with honors from West Virginia Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.  His career involved serving as a mechanical engineer with an energy and gas company in Charleston, WV.  Michael had a passion for helicopters.  He enjoyed playing golf, and collecting guns.

Michael was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.  He was always so proud of his daughter, Zoey, for her strength and determination.  He was always there when his son, Zachary, needed him.  He missed Zachary with his whole heart.  Michael enjoyed spending time with family and friends with unmatched wit and sense of humor.  He could always make you laugh, especially, when he would teasingly get into arguments with his granddaughter, Raelyn.  He passionately loved, protected and provided.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his son, Zachary McCutcheon; and father, Raymond McCutcheon.

Michael is survived by his wife, Danielle McCutcheon; daughter, Zoey McCutcheon; grandchildren, Raelyn and Royce McCutcheon; his mother, Jean McCutcheon; brothers, Peter McCutcheon (Roxie) and Brion McCutcheon (Tonia).

A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Calvary Church of the Nazarene in Sissonville with burial to follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories.
