Mildred M. Cantley, 70, of South Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on October 8, 2009, at Thomas Memorial Hospital, after a short illness.
She was born on October 9, 1938 and was the daughter of the late John and B. Virginia McCallister. Her sister, Carol Griffiths, also preceded her in death.
Mildred worked as a treasurer for 12 years at the Assembly of God and for 10 years at Michael Dent Ministries. She greatly enjoyed and loved her family and also was very much a part of the church and loved Jesus Christ immensely.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert Cantley of South Charleston and three children, one son, Robbie Cantley and his wife, Jean of South Charleston; two daughters, Pam Brown and her husband, Gene of Julian and Joyce Lett and her husband, Steve of Poca. Also surviving are three grandsons, Michael Cantley and his wife, Brittnie, Joshua Cantley and Tyler Lett; one great grandson, Carlet Joe Cantley; brother, Joe McCallister of Nitro; sisters, Naomi Frame of Ohio, Erma Bays of South Charleston, Jean Henderson and Joyce Smith of Alabama and Rita Amenta of Martinsburg; a special niece Brenda Fernatt of South Charleston and aunt Ruth Goldsberry of Nitro and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 11, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Bishop Craig A. Cook officiating. Entombment will follow in the Graceland Memorial Park Mausoleum.
