Mildred Maxine Lanham entered heaven to meet her Lord on April 26, 2016.
She was born on February 4, 1932 to the late Eldridge and Martha Means. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arland E. Lanham, Sr., and brothers Michael Means, C. Herman Means, and James Means.
Maxine was a member of the St. Albans Church of the Nazarene for 55 years, where she served as Sunday school teacher, missionary president, church board member, church board secretary, and nursery attendant. She was devoted to her children and loved them beyond measure. Maxine spent her life giving unselfishly of herself to others and was the most compassionate, kind-hearted, humble person. She was quiet and unassuming, but she was the center of the family. Maxine exemplified what it meant to be a Christian by living her faith every day.
Left to mourn her and to cherish her memory are son A. Edward Lanham, Jr., of St. Albans, daughter Marsha Lanham of St. Albans, niece (whom she raised as her second daughter) Kristen (Michael) Totten, great-nieces Mackenzie Chapin and Makayla Totten, sister Eva (Joseph) Williams, brothers Douglas Means and George Means, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with the Rev. George Stadler officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
