Obituary

Minnie Carr Hively, 73, of Dunbar, died peacefully at home on September 25, 2018. She fought courageously and gracefully, but lost her battle against Glioblastoma Multiforme.

Minnie was born on April 21, 1945 to her parents, Asa and Isabell Carr. She attended Clendenin High School where she met the love of her life, Robert L. Hively. Married in 1961, Minnie and Robert began their lives together in Dunbar, where they raised their four children. Minnie was an irreplaceable mother and wife. Minnie believed everyone should be treated with respect. She loved laughing with her family and took great pride in her gardening and lawn; most of all, Minnie loved to be on the road with her "crazy old man," Robert.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings Tom Carr and Ruth Sigwerth; as well as her husband's parents, Donald and Hazel Hively, for whom she had deep admiration and held a special place in her heart.

Minnie's beautiful life and legacy will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband, Dr. Robert L. Hively, and their four children, Dr. Jeffrey W. Hively (Kimberly), Kimberly H. Skaggs (Kevin Doss), Jason L. Hively, and Jennifer H. Walton (Ashley). "Mawmaw" will be missed immensely by all of her grandchildren and great-children, Emilee H. Miller (Malcom), Stephen L. Wilson (Erica), Gabrielle A. Skaggs, Jacob L. Hively, Makayla D. Hively, Morgan A. Skaggs, Alexis J. Hively, Maggie H. Walton, Zachary L. Walton, Hivelee Miller, and Carter Miller. Additionally, Mawmaw was blessed with an endless list of honorary grandchildren whom she adored. Minnie is survived by siblings; Nellie Hodges (Gary) of Elkview, Annie Mace (Vince) of Springhill, Fla, Asa Carr of Elkview, Mark Carr (Connie) of Seagrove, NC, Rebecca Proctor of South Charleston, Judy Carr of Beechy Ridge, WV; Marvin Carr (Altha) of Franklin, NC, Betty Harrison (George) of Tampa, Florida, and Lawrence Carr of Toledo, OH.

The Hively family would like to extend a special thank you to "Nurse Judy" Eggleton, Spring Hill Primary Care Physicians, Kindred Home Health, and Minnie's siblings. Minnie was given the unconditional love, exceptional care, and respect she deserved by each and every one of you.

There will be a graveside service at 1p.m. on Saturday, September 29th, in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
